IPL 2010 : Mumbai Indians! Duniya Hilla Denge!

Brian Charles Lara, the Test cricket's highest run getter will be "more than pleased" to send a congratulatory message to world's other superstar Sachin Tendulkar once he ceases his own world record. This was revealed by Lara's brother Richard.

Speaking from Trinidad on the eve of the second day of the Colombo Test between hosts Sri Lanka and India, he said, "we wish Sachin all the best".

"Sachin Tendulkar holds so many records and this will be one addition to his long list. We know Brian (Lara) record is going to be broken one day and that day is now not far off. We are happy that the record will be in the possession of the player as good as Sachin soon."

"Yes my brother and the present record holder (with 11,953 runs in Test cricket) will call him surely on that day," Richard Lara, one of the 11 siblings of Lara family signed off.

Richard Lara also played cricket at club level in his country. The Lara family also spoke about Australian skipper Ricky Ponting, 34, who is also chasing Lara's record with 10,099 Test runs under his belt.

"Sachin and Ponting are both prolific run scorers and at the top of their games at this stage in their lives. I believe that Sachin's injury problems may play a role in who keeps the record longest. If Sachin stays fit and plays in most of the Test matches in over the next three years then he would put some serious distance between himself and Ponting. But Ponting is two years younger and has less injury issues so ultimately he may be the one holding the record if he plays until he is 39-40 years old," he further added.

The 10th of 11 children, Brian Lara (age 39), retired from Test cricket some 18 months ago, was not available for comments being not in his home town.
