Sachin Tendulkar has become the first player in the history of Test match cricket to have surpassed 12,000 runs. This is a phenomenal, significant and a magnificent achievement. In the process, Sachin Tendulkar overtook Brian Lara's tally of 11953 runs to become the highest run scorer in Test match cricket. Sachin, who made his debut in Test matches in 1989 against Pakistan at Karachi in 1989 has struck 39 Test hundreds till date. Add 42 centuries to it that Sachin Tendulkar has hit in One-day internationals and Sachin Tendulkar's record becomes all the more remarkable. Sachin has scored more than 16,000 runs in One-day internationals and in all has 28,000 runs in international cricket. Sachin Tendulkar's greatness can't be described in words and language. He is batsmanship personified, much the same way as Sunil Gavaskar, who was widely regarded as one of the finest batsmen of his time. Sachin Tendulkar has thus overtaken Brian Lara, Allan Border, Steve Waugh, Rahul Dravid, Ricky Ponting and Sunil Gavaskar who were the leading run scorers in Test match cricket with over 10,000 runs to their name.
