Tendulkar set to return to ODI fold

With the one-day team in stunning form, not too many changes are expected in the 15-man squad for the final four one-dayers after the game in Kanpur on Thursday. Sachin Tendulkar, however, is expected to return to the one-day team after a gap of nearly eight months.

Tendulkar's last one-day appearance for India was in the final of the triangular series in Australia. The batting maestro put in an unforgettable performance to lead India to a 2-0 victory. Since then, Tendulkar has either been rested or has been injured as India's one-day outfit has played in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and at home.

In Tendulkar's absence, Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag have formed an imposing opening pair. That partnership will have to be broken as Tendulkar will return to his preferred opener's slot, forcing either Gambhir or Sehwag to drop down the order.

Tendulkar's return will also mean that either Suresh Raina or Rohit Sharma will be left out of the eleven, while Yusuf Pathan's heroics with the bat in Indore and his useful off-spin means he is unlikely to be axed from the squad.

Sources also say that selectors may leave out RP Singh from the squad. In his place either Irfan Pathan or Praveen Kumar could be given a go.
