When he nudged Graeme Swann for a single behind square leg to move to 56, Sachin Tendulkar completed his 1,000 runs in Test matches in the year 2008. He became third Indian (after Virender Sehwag and VVS Laxman) and only the sixth batsman to reach this landmark this year.This was the fifth time Tendulkar reached the landmark of 1,000 runs in a calendar year. Tendulkar had scored exactly 1,000 in 1997, 1088 in 1999,1003 in 2001 and 1392 in 2002.With this Tendulkar equalled the world record of aggregating 1,000 runs in a calendar year on MOST occasions. He joined West Indian Brian Lara and Australian Matthew Hayden who have performed this feat on five occasions. Sunil Gavaskar, Ricky Ponting and Jacques Kallis have done so on four occasions.
