Indian cricket team to leave for Sri Lanka on Monday
The 15 member Sri Lanka-bound Indian cricket team had a net session at the Chidambaram stadium in chennai on Sunday afternoon. Amidst tight security, the players practised at the stadium for over three hours. The team, which leaves for Colombo on Monday morning, will play five one-day internationals and one Twenty20 game. The first game will be played at Dambulla on Wednesday. The AIR correspondent reports that this is perhaps the first time that an Indian team with six specialist bowlers has left the shores for a short series. The team has a battery of pace bowlers led by Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma. Munaf Patel, Irfan Pathan and Praveen Kumar will provide the back-up. With Harbhajan Singh out due to injury, Pragyan Ojha will spearhead the spin department. Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni would have the luxury of three left-arm spinners in the side as he has all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and Yuvraj Singh besides Yusuf Pathan. The squad has seven specialist batsmen in captain MS Dhoni, Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina.
