Helping Hands is a U.S. (Texas) based organization that builds homes for homeless and needy children worldwide is organizing an. exclusive sit-down dinner with Sachin Tendulkar, followed by dance and silent auction of cricket memorabilia at the ITC Grand Central, Mumbai on Wednesday October 14.
Guests will include high-end Mumbai society patrons and members of the corporate sector..
They will be making donations of Rs. 100,000, Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 10,000 to help the cause of homeless children.
Sri Lankan cricketers Sanath Jayasuriya, Muttiah Muralitharan and Chaminda Vaas are among those who have lent their names to raise funds for Helping Hands dedicated to providing food, shelter, clothing, health care and education to the homeless and orphaned children..
Sri Lanka and India are among eight countries selected to build centers for destitute children. Other countries include Brazil, Ethiopia, Mexico, Thailand and South Africa.
The organization’s founder-head is Sri Lankan-born Kaushalya Siriwardena who left her management position with American Airlines to work to help homeless Children.
She is a daughter of Sujatha (nee Hettiarachchi) Nadarajah, poet, Dhamma Duta worker and author of the Light of the Ten Thousand fold World System and of the late Sri R. M. Nadarajah Naidu.
