Famous British-Afro band Osibisa, which will perform here tomorrow, feels it is to African music what Sachin Tendulkar is to Indian cricket.
"As Sachin Tendulkar is to Indian cricket so is Osibisa to African music," the band's lead man Teddy Osei told reporters today.
A mixture of young and old musicians, the band will be performing in Kochi after 28 long years. The members said they were excited to be performing after such a long gap.
The band had performed for two days at Goa and after the Kochi performance would move on to Chennai for a show on November 22 after which they would return to UK.
Teddy, who plays sax and flute and is considered to be Osibisa's brain child, said when the small black band was formed in 1969 it was very difficult to establish itself in Europe and UK.
