A motion congratulating cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar for creating a new world record of more than 17,000 runs in international cricket was passed unanimously in the Maharashtra Legislative Council today.
Moving the motion, Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal said Tendulkar had made Maharashtra proud by his sterling and consistent performance in international cricket in the last 20 years.
Tendulkar also holds the world record for the highest number of centuries. Following the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai, Tendulkar had dedicated his 41st century on December 15, 2008 to those who died in the attack and Mumbaikars.
