IPL 2010 : Mumbai Indians! Duniya Hilla Denge!

With a view to appeal Mumbaikars to save water, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar is likely to feature in a campaign organised by the local civic body early next year.

The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) has approached the cricket legend to be a part of 'Save Water Campaign'.

"We have approached Sachin to be part of the campaign. We had preliminary talks on this matter with Sachin and he has verbally agreed to be part of it. But we are awaiting a formal consent from him," a senior civic official told PTI.

"As we receive a final approval from him, things will go on floor in couple of days and the entire thing will most likely be ready in January, 2010, with Sachin becoming the face of the campaign," the official said.

Through the 'Save Water Campaign' the message of water conservation will be presented through billboards, posters, radio, television and short films among others.

"Sachin will appeal to citizens not to waste drinking water. Details are being worked out on the different formats of campaign," the official said.

The MCGM feels that Tendulkar, who has earlier endorsed on the issue of AIDS awareness, had a greater impact and they expect the same when the cricketer will become a part of 'Save Water Campaign'.

"Sachin's endorsement is likely to drive home the point better. We are sure that he will endorse the cause of water conservation, which is a major issue in the city, will have a positive impact and we will be able to save at least some water," the official said.

Mumbai has a daily requirement of 4,200 million litres of water but has a shortfall of 800 million litres a day.

The residential users are now facing a 15 per cent water cut while commercial users face 30 per cent.
