Hobart: Australian skipper Ricky Ponting smashed double centuray here against Pakistan in the third Test match.
With the double ton, Ricky Ponting moved close to eclipse Indian batting Maestro Sachin Tendulkar's most Test centuries record.
Ponting smashed his 39th Test century here today. He is just four centuries behind Tendulkar (43).
Earlier, electing to bat, Australia were reduced to 71/3 on the first day of Third Test.
Ponting and Michael Clarke rescued the side form early jolt and over 300 runs partnership helped hosts to post mammoth 519 runs on the board.
Australia declared its first innings for 519/8. Ponting scored 209 while Clarke made 166 runs to put the side on driving seat on Day second.
In reply to 519 runs, Pakistan were 13/0 in their first innings. Australia have already won the series 2-0.
