KANPUR: To pay tribute to Sachin Tendulkar's awe-inspiring batting exploits, Kanpur Municipal Corporation has built a marble gate in the city and has named it 'Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar Sarvdharam Dwaar'.
Located on the road connecting the Kalpi Road with Darshanpurva, the gate would be inaugurated tomorrow and though Tendulkar would not be present at the ceremony, he would be invited to have a look at it whenever India plays in Kanpur next.
Kanpur's mayor Ravindra Patni said the gate is the city's gift to Tendulkar.
"It's made of pink marble and has been built at a cost of Rs 10 lakh. The money has come from the corporation," he said.
