bringing to your notice a few other instances when he had a series of low scores ...............and was written off :
1.) India's tour to New Zealand :- After having a disappointing test series, Sach missed out the first 4 ODIs of the 7 match series, what followed was even more disheartening as the remaining 3 matches fetched just 2 runs . Massive criticism followed, and many cricket experts suggested he should retire immediately ................some raised question marks regarding his selection in the World cup squad .
What followed was pure magic, after an ordinary 50 against holland and a gritty 36 against the aussies, sachin came to his true colors pulverizing opponents in the process..He took a team struggling in the opening matches to the finals almost single handedly ..................though thats a different matter some people will blame him for not performing in that all important final .
2.) 2007 World cup : Aftr looking somewhat ordinary in the previous matches and 2 poor scores in the world cup got the critics excited again, many greats like Ian Chappel hinted towards his retirement : In the next few series he was consistently the pick of Indian batsmen, Driving graciously, pulling audaciously and delighting the fans and critics alike .....he ended the year with 6 90s(even that was criticized) and several other match winning knocks which helped India recover from a disastrous World Cup.
3.) CB Series - After doig most of the talking in the test series. Sachin's bat gave a lukewarm opening in the series getting 30s and 40s initially and a couple of single digit scores which again meant that "The Elephant" was under scanner ..............This time Sachin chose the occasion, and slammed 63, 117* and 91 in the 3 matches that mattered the most ..
Going by this trend, something special lies ahead ......................just wait and watch we'll be rejoicing again .
