When the sensex added 1,000 points to itself to touch 4,000 on hopes of a liberal exim policy, Sachin had managed to add just about 200 runs to his ODI career record. Then all hell broke loose. The Harshad Mehta scam bought the stock markets down and the sensex tumbled. Sachin, on the other hand, started to score at will, breaking records and demolishing any bowling attack that came his way. He was promoted to the opening position and his innings of 82 from 49 balls against New Zealand is now part of cricketing folklore. He crashed through the records as he went past 2,000 runs at Sharjah. He hammered the Sri Lankan bowling attack for 112 at the same venue a year later to cross 3,000 ODI runs. In the summer of 1996, even as Fanie de Villier of South Africa dismissed him for just 17, he managed to cross the 4,000 mark. Less than a year later, on February 12, 1997, he became only the second Indian to score 5,000 runs. He hit no centuries in the ODI series in Bangladesh against Pakistan. But his innings of 95 at the Bangabandhu stadium helped India to win the series. It also got him his 6,000th run. Another century against the Lankans in Sri Lanka took him past 7,000 in 1998. Through all of this, the sensex was in deep coma. When it finally woke up in 1999 to claw its way past the 5,000 mark, Sachin had 8,350 runs to his name. In what seemed like a mad rush to catch up with Sachin, the index took just 43 trading sessions to go past the 6,000 mark. It faltered again and had to wait almost five years to get to the 7,000 mark. In 2005, the index zipped by 8,000. By the end of the year, it breached 9,000. A tennis elbow ensured Sachin didn't move an inch from 13,642. It took the sensex just 48 more sessions to make it to the coveted 10K mark while Sachin took eight months to score the 370 runs needed to take him past 14k.
If 2005 was a dream run for the sensex, 2006 proved to be even better. The sensex rocketed past 11,000 on March 27, upped the ante and made it to 12,000 in just 24 days. Sachin, by then, had barely added 298 runs to his career when the sensex crossed 13K. The sensex carried on its good form to the end of the year making 14,000 on December 5. After that, the sensex went into a lull while Sachin went to Ireland. He won the ODI series for India battling against South Africa and went past the 15,000 run barrier. Going by past trend, the sensex ought to have been trailing behind. But a week later, it caught up. The circle, is finally complete.
SENSEX AND SACHIN ARE RELATED INVERSELY. WHEN SENSEX WAS GOING GOOD SACHIN HAD A BAD PATCH BUT THE OPPOSITE WAS ALSO TRUE - EXAMPLE : Sensex was at 19000 a couple of days before CB Series finals in Aus..... And it started fallin nd fallin and Master on the other hand played two of His best knocks.... Before nd Durin SL series, Sensex was gainin lost ground, and Sachin failed.....
In da last couple of days, Sensex is slidin down.... So we can expect somethin special from God!!.....
