Sachin Tendulkar will put the team ahead of individual glory when India face Australia in a four-test series next month.
Tendulkar is just 76 runs short of Brian Lara's all-time Test record of 11,953, but the 35-year-old said on Monday the mark was not on his mind.
"It's irrelevant at this time," he said. "At the moment, I'm fully focused on playing well and helping my team win the series."
Tendulkar is back in the team after missing the one-day series in Sri Lanka due to a shoulder injury.
"I'm working on my fitness in this camp and I hope to do my best in the series," he said.
"This is a four-match series and I have targets for each match. Hopefully, I would be able to achieve them."
The battle for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, currently held by Australia, begins on October 9 when the first Test gets under way in Bangalore.
Meanwhile, the Little Master also said he would not relax after breaking Brian Lara's record.
"I have to concentrate and try and play well. Record etc... It's okay. If you play well, and if it (record) happens, it's good", the ace batsman who is just 76 runs short of that milestone, told reporters.
Tendulkar said his focus was on playing well, and it's not as if he has to make 76 runs and after that he can relax.
He said the team had set certain targets in the four Test series against Ricky Ponting's side, and focus of every player is to achieve that target.
Tendulkar missed the Irani Trophy last week. An elbow injury during the Third Test against Sri Lanka last month had forced him out of the subsequent one-day series.
Tendulkar said he was happy with the rehabilitation and had been working with the trainer.
"Last two-three weeks have been quite good," Tendulkar said, adding, he was pleased with the progress.
