Yes. you read it right. Its not a spelling mistake or wild imagination.
I was stunned and speechless when i heard that.
I came back from my class cursing myself for attending it when the rest of the guys bunked it and not returning home to watch the match when i got the opportunity once.
I was flipping the news channels continuously to watch the magic moment again and again when i heard those words that literally stunned me for a minute.
The first little master Sunil Gavaskar was on CNN-IBN cursing himself (just like i am doing now) for missing the action live at the stadium, sharing his thoughts on sachin's record breaking performance and his wishes that this is just the beginning of some more special innings and greater things to be achieved by sachin in the future and the need for him to win the world cup. At the end, the anchor asked "Mr. Gavaskar, what would you say to sachin when you meet him next time".
Mr. Gavaskar replied "Well i want to bend down and touch his feet when we meet the next time. We touch the feet of the people who are at a high pedestal. Sachin is one of those people and i really want to do that."
Well i am not sachin, but i am sure sachin would be feeling the same that i am feeling now.
All the riches,prizes and accolades on one side and such great words from one of the living legends of the cricket on the other side. i would rather dedicate the rest of my life to cricket for these kind words rather than for all those riches and prizes.
