Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit congratulated master blaster Sachin Tendulkar who smashed a double ton in today's One Day International match against South Africa at Gwalior, thus becoming the first batsman to achieve the landmark.
Expressing her joy, Ms Dikshit said, ''He has become the first cricketer in the world to achieve this rare feat. He played a marvellous innings today.''
''We all are proud of Sachin and are confident that he will continue to make more and more remarkable world records,'' she added.
The Chief Minister also said, ''His inning will be remembered for all times to come. We Delhiites join every Indian in celebrating this memorable achievement of the great batsman.''
Gwalior's Captain Roop Singh Stadium witnessed Sachin becoming the highest scorer in a match in the history of One Day International cricket and the first player to score a double ton in an ODI match.
He scored an unbeaten 200 off 147 balls.
