The censor board has told the BMC to modify an ad film that shows Sachin Tendulkar sitting while the national anthem plays in the background. The 30-minute film advises citizens to use water prudently.
“I have not seen the ad but censor board committee members told me about the objection. Once the BMC replaces the music we will give it the certificate,” said Vinayak Azad, regional officer of the censor board.
Titled Paani Waachwa, Mumbai Jagwa, the film is in Marathi and Hindi and was slated for release within 10 days of its January 10 shoot.
Additional municipal commissioner Anil Diggikar said, “Necessary changes will be made and we expect to release the ad soon.”
The ad has Tendulkar encouraging citizens to take a bath using a bucket rather than the shower. Tendulkar, approached because of his iconic status, charged no fee, while Eureka Films was paid about Rs.15 lakh for shooting and post-production.
Civic officials said the ad will be showcased on TV, in multiplexes and on screens in ward offices. There will also be citywide posters with Tendulkar urging Mumbaikars to save water.
