Ace off-spinner Harbhajan Singh said on Sunday that he had requested Sachin Tendulkar to play for India in the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies. However, Tendulkar told him that he would stick to his decision of not playing Twenty20 internationals any more.
Harbhajan disclosed that he had personally requested Tendulkar to play in the T20 World Cup, a day before the team selection took place in Mumbai.
Harbhajan said that he feels Sachin's presence would have made the Indian squad stronger in the Caribbean.
Bhajji said, "I feel that team would have become strong with Sachin's presence. Even a day before the selection I asked him to consider his decision, but he said that he has already decided that T20 is not his game and that he does not want to play anymore. I am sure that if a player of Sachin's calibre is present in the dressing room, it would have added to the confidence in the team."
Sachin had earlier said that he doesn't intend to return to the T20 side. He said, "I am not going to play in the T20 World Cup. I abide by my decision taken in 2007."
