Harbhajan Singh said Sachin Tendulkar's presence in the West Indies for the ICC World T20 would have helped India.
The Mumbai skipper has been in brilliant form through the ongoing Indian Premier League and has been instrumental in leading his team to victory with key innings.
However, Tendulkar does not play T20 internationals anymore hence the selectors have not include him in the Indian squad for the World Twenty20, beginning in the West Indies from April 30.
Tendulkar is currently the second highest run-scorer in the IPL, and he has been instrumental in ensuring that Mumbai are at the top of the charts more than half-way into the tournament.
"Had Sachin decided to play in the World T20, it would have been good for the team. But since he has decided, we know he is not going to change his decision," Harbhajan, Tendukar's IPL teammate, said during an informal interaction with scribes on the sidelines a felicitation function.
Harbhajan, who is among the top five bowlers in IPL-III with 11 scalps, has also impressed with his batting skills and his blistering knocks have come handy for his side.
"I have worked a lot on my batting as well," he said even as he added that despite his little cameos he will still remain a bowler first.
Harbhajan felt that Twenty20 cricket had a positive effect on other forms of the game. "It is having a positive effect on other versions. The game is becoming more fast now."
The senior pro also said the IPL has helped all the international players in their ICC World T20 preparations.
"I think now we - as the Indian team - believe that every target can be chased down if our batting clicks. It's a good practice for the World T20. Other teams too will benefit because their players are playing in the IPL," he said.
